Mode of electing members and validating their mandate:

The National People's Assembly's members are elected with the universal, direct and secret suffrage according to the proportional representation.

The elections results are proclaimed by the Constitutional Council.

The Constitutional Council notifies to the  National People's Assembly  the  list of its elected members. The Assembly sets up, during the first legislature session, the " validation committee " made up of 20 members chosen according to the proportional representation of the political groups represented within the Assembly.

The Assembly validates the mandates upon the report from the above mentioned committee, subject to the decisions to be made by the Constitutional Council in the framework of the matters in dispute related to the legislative elections.

The validation committee is broken up once its report is adopted. The National People's Assembly takes note of the validation or invalidation of the contentious mandates from the decision of the Constitutional Council, communicated in plenary session by the Speaker of the Assembly. The National People's Assembly  validates the mandates during the legislature on the basis of the report from the committee of juridical and administrative affairs and liberties.
